Prize Country - “Cement”
I caught Portland, Oregon’s PRIZE COUNTRY last week in at a small pub in downtown Syracuse — they’re on tour supporting their new record “With Love” out on Hex Records.
I had never even heard of this band before seeing them but, in one of my favorite scenarios for discovering new music, I was floored by how great they were live. I’ve been listening to “With Love” all week and have decided to share my favorite song.
If you like this kind of straight-forward, dissonant, post-hardcore rock, go buy this record, and see them on their US tour!

The bill is called the “Internet Freedom Act of 2009” — a perplexing name, because its aim is to actually block FCC Net Neutrality rules that would stop internet providers like Comcast, AT&T, and Verizon from being allowed to control the content you see on the internet.
Glenn Beck has also chimed in, echoing McCain’s view, but adding that Net Neutrality is a ‘marxist plot’ created by the government to control the internet*.
Mind-bending!
*Supporters of Net Neutrality rules and legislation include: the Christian Coalition, the Gun Owners of America, and Brent Bozell’s Parents Television Council. Wow, we really are close to full-on Socialism!
After answering a phone call from the neighbor (who was asking for my mother), my grandmother says:
“Oh okay, I’ll get her for you — KAY! THE BITCH NEXT DOOR IS ON THE PHONE FOR YOU!”
